Dear Staff,
This is a new message with new protocols for building use.
For the week of June 1-8, there will be a strict prohibition on use of the building. Under no circumstances are employees to seek access to the building.
I drove in to the city to see what shape the building was in this morning. I was met by a police barricade. I was only allowed in to the downtown area when I assured them I owned a downtown building and gave them the address. They warned me not to stay long, because more activity would be picking up before the noon hour.
What I saw when I got into the city horrified me. From Tower City to Playhouse Square, almost every building was damaged. Broken glass, busted doors, and first floors at street level stripped of everything someone could grab. For reasons I cannot explain or fathom, the only buildings that I saw no damage to were Rocket Mortgage Arena, and 700 Prospect. Those very large, glass front walls and our glass doors were untouched. I took some photos and have attached them. Please, take these prohibitions very seriously.
I have no idea what we will find tomorrow. If it is anything like what I saw today, it won’t be good. I hope and pray that if there is more to come today, our building survives another night. Not knowing what may come, the Officers and Sr. Staff have agreed that we should not take any chances. For this week, we are asking all staff - even those with prior permissions, to NOT come into the city or the building. We may learn more later in the week and alter this policy – and if we do we will let you know.
I ask you to keep our staff and our property in your thoughts and prayers. This is an uncertain time and anything is possible. Our highest priority is your safety. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we are not taking any risks with your safety.
Shalom,
Rev. Dr. John C. Dorhauer
General Minister and President

I didn't realize I could post a video! 🙂

@John Dorhauer I think out of office messages are important. Especially when you have limited access to your emails while away. Directing them to someone who can assist them quicker is the key.

I have so many pictures of me with animals! 😁
This is Echo. He's a friends dog and he thinks he's a lapdog!
This is Kitty-Frost. I found her in October. She could barely walk and her eyes weren't fully open. I couldn't find her mama anywhere. I bottle fed her for almost 4 weeks until she would eat soft foods. Now, after she eats, she will come curl up on me and fall asleep.
This is Roxy. She's a little over 2. I've had her since she was 8 weeks old.
And this is Thor. He's a little over a year old now. I don't have any recent selfies with him. He prefers not to interact with people unless it's feeding time. haha

Those are great ideas! I frequently flag emails that I need to follow up on.
@Marcy Gansler There used to be an option to use the sticky note for PC. I don't think its an option any more. Outlook has a sticky note option. There is a sticky note icon at the bottom left of Outlook. Previous stick notes are also saved there. I use this for information I may need at a later time.

What are some tips and tricks you use in your daily work that could benefit your colleagues? I have 2 that I can think of that I use frequently.
If I find myself rewriting the same emails, such as the training emails for new hires or resetting the password for Paylocity, I'll add that email as a signature. I copy the body of the email along with my actual signature and add it as a signature. That way, when I need to send the email again, I just start a new email and then select the signature, edit as needed and send it out.
Something else I find myself using is the snipping tool. The snipping tool is similar to a screenshot, except instead of capturing the entire screen, you can select just the section you need. You don't need to "PrtScn" the whole screen (or screens for those who have 2 monitors) and then crop it. To find this tool, go to the start menu and search snipping tool. From there you can add it to your desktop or taskbar. To add it to your desktop, you can drag and drop it. To add it to your taskbar, right click and select pin to taskbar.
I hope someone can benefit from these tricks! I'd love to hear any tips and tricks everyone else has!

I always find puzzles calming too. They're a great way to reduce stress by occupying and engaging the mind to create a sense of calm and serenity. As the pieces are put together, external worries and stress decrease because the mind is focusing on the activity, which is both meditative and satisfying. How perfect for wellness month! Thank you Keri!
