I volunteered at Pass It on Clothing Closet (https://passitonbellevue.org/) in my community. They are an entirely volunteer-based organization that provide clothing (and some other miscellaneous items) to any person; they do not have income or residency requirements for their customers. Customers are limited to 100 free items of clothing each month. Each fall they also have a coat giveaway that is limited to folks who live within our school district. They do limit winter coats to one per person in your household.
Here's the pile of donations that I had the pleasure of sorting! (I certainly did not get through all the bags.) I sorted and put about three racks of clothing on hangers for the volunteer staff to tag and put on the floor. I had to stop because I ran out of room for sorted clothing.
When I was leaving, they did ask me if I was planning to regularly volunteer. Unfortunately, their regular volunteer hours are during the workday. I suggested I could be back to use our quarterly community service hours if they'd like.
It surprised me to see the condition of some of the donations: dirty, ripped, stinky, completely unusable.
I was grateful to be able to see how a volunteer run non-profit is serving in my local (small) community. It was encouraging to see how much work they are able to do with so little resources (i.e., money and volunteers).

Just a word of warning to folks that the hooks on the inside of the all gender bathroom door are not intended for bags. There was no indication of this on the door. I hung my laptop back on a hook. After a few minutes my bag fell to the floor (that happened to have standing water). The hooks are magnets, not actual hooks for hanging bags.

Joan Davidson, the Office Manager for the Northwest Ohio Association, is exploring housing options in the Cleveland area. She, and eventually her husband, will be in need of housing for three months, beginning in February or March. They are unsure of dates at this point as they are waiting for the Cleveland Clinic to schedule his procedure. They may also be interested in a place just the last month of their Cleveland stay.
In particular, Joan is hoping to stay within about 20 minutes of Cleveland Clinic and is also concerned that her "farming family will be in a comfortable setting and feel safe."
If you have an airbnb or something similar (or know someone) that you think might fit the bill please feel free to reach out to Joan directly at joan@nwoa.org. Or if you'd prefer I make an introduction I'd be happy to do so.

DRATS! I missed the time to gather and share. My lunch is frequently occupied a cute little 6 year old that lives with me.
I had fried chicken, okra, and macaroni & Cheese from Southern Cafe in Lakewood. It was pretty good. I particularly appreciated that they were able to package my takeout so the chicken and okra were still crunchy and didn't get soggy. The peach cobbler was amazing! I think I'll be going back again just for that.
If you're on the west side you should definitely give them a try.

I googled black-owned restaurants in Cleveland and most of the good ones I found were a bit from from me on the west side. (I'm in the West Park neighborhood of Cleveland.) I discovered Southern Cafe in Lakewood (https://www.southerncafeohio.com/lakewood-west.html) with a good looking menu.
I'm going to give them a try.

We're trying to. Some weeks there's a small group of us, other weeks there might just be two of us. And perhaps other weeks only one person shows up.
I'm hoping to be there today because I haven't been available the past couple weeks.

So is he patiently, or impatiently waiting for the building to open?

Tomorrow Literary Cleveland is hosting a collective writing experiment. They are inviting all in the Greater Cleveland area to document what their life looks like tomorrow, Tuesday May 12th. I realize many of our staff are not in the Cleveland area, but I thought I'd share anyway.

I'd like to see a video of you doing this move. You need to include the hair flip as well!

While the prize wheel is pretty awesome, cuddling this sweet little baby is definitely better!

I'm glad to hear the worst of it has passed.
And thank you for staying home when you noticed the onset of your symptoms.

@Keri Foster Can you hook me up with a box of thin mints & samoas? If so, can I pay you next week?

Tomorrow is Wednesday --- That means it's time for the needle craft group to meet.
Do you knit, crochet, or do some other needle craft? Come and join us!
A group of needle crafters meets on Wednesdays at noon in the Mezzanine for lunch.
Bring your lunch and whatever needle craft you're working on. Perhaps we can learn a thing or two from one another, or at least enjoy some good company.
